SPECIAL PERFORMANCE AT THE PRINCE OF WALES - 30 JUNE |
There was an electric atmosphere at the Prince of Wales Theatre on Monday 30 June 2008, as the premiere of MAMMA MIA! THE MOVIE was taking place 200 metres down the road at the Odeon Leicester Square, the London cast were giving their live stage performance to a full house of MAMMA MIA! fans. During an extended interval there were screens around the theatre displaying clips from the film and interviews with some of the movie cast. With the champagne flowing and the knowledge that at the end of the show one lucky audience member would be winning a trip for 2 to New York to the US movie premiere, the audience took their seats for Act 2!
At the end of the show Linzi Hately (who plays Donna) opened the golden envelope to reveal that Christian Peterson from Spofforth was the lucky winner. He'd accidentally booked several seats online instead of a pair and had returned the others and kept the 2 seats he and his wife were sitting in because they were row K, and it was the first letter of his wife's name. He'd had also seen the show in 4 other locations around the world but had not seen it in New York so was very excited by the news he'd won. A fabulous evening and one that will be remembered in MAMMA MIA! history.
